How to do this Behind the song

How a Song Is Made

From a passage of Scripture to a finished track you can play on your phone: one song, start to finish.

The Article Seven steps

Every track follows the same simple path. The goal never changes: let the words of Scripture carry the song, and let the music serve them. Here is that path for one song.

1

Choose the passage

Pick a short passage that holds together by itself: a psalm, a vision, a saying of Jesus. Two to ten verses is about right for one song. The running order of an album follows the book it is drawn from, so each song sits where it falls in the story.

2

Set the words

Copy the verses from a trusted translation (the ESV for most albums) and shape them into verses and a chorus. The text stays word for word: lines are arranged and repeated, but nothing is added to what Scripture says. A few songs are clearly marked paraphrases, written as a prayer in response to the passage.

3

Describe the sound

Next comes a short description of the style: the instruments, the tempo, the mood. A lament sounds different from a victory song, and the music should match what the passage is doing. Section tags such as [Verse] and [Chorus] tell the music tool where each part of the lyrics begins.

4

Generate several takes

An AI music generator turns the lyrics and style into audio. It never gets it right the first time, so each song is generated several times, and every take is a little different: another melody, another voice, another feel.

5

Listen, and keep one

Every take is listened to all the way through, with the open Bible beside it. A take is kept only if the words are sung clearly and correctly and the music fits the passage. Mis-sung words, odd endings and anything that distracts from the text means that take is thrown away.

6

Write the commentary

Each song gets a short story: a few paragraphs on what the passage meant, where it sits in the Bible, and how it connects to the rest of Scripture. The lyrics and the verses appear beside it, so you can read along as you listen.

7

Check and publish

The final step is a check of the lyrics against the verses, one more time. Then the track is added to its album with its cover art, and it goes live here, free and without ads.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”

— Colossians 3:16
